“The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want.”
You know it. Say it with me. “The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want.”
David was such a mighty man of God. The more I study his Psalms, I gain a better perspective of his faith, his character, and his confidence.
Psalms 23 is one of my favorites, and I am sure many others would agree.
I most recently remember saying it as I progressed through college wondering if graduation would ever come fast enough.
I most remember saying it as a child as I learned the basics of the Bible.
However, there is nothing basic about this psalm.
I love it all, but one verse in particular just sticks with me.
Verse 4 says “Yea, though I walk through the valley I will fear no evil for thou art with me.” Hmmm… Wait a minute David. You are in a valley. It’s dark. It’s cold. You can’t even see. Yet, you have no fear. David did not fear because he said I am walking THROUGH the valley. He understood that he wasn’t mean to stay in the valley, so he didn’t get comfortable there. What is your valley today? Depression, sorrow, worry, lack of faith, no hope, family issues, lost your job, can’t find one? WHATEVER it is, have the spirit of David. Have the courage of David. Have the confidence of David. In Him, you lack NO THING.
