Take a walk with me down memory lane. Do you remember being chased on the playground in elementary school? In retrospect, it is hilarious to think how many times I dodged, ducked, and ran not to get caught. Due to my father being a track star and blessing me with his ability, I did not get caught too often. However, sometimes I did. If you are not familiar with the tag game or need a refresher, it is a playground game that involves one or more players chasing other players in an attempt to “tag” or touch them, usually with their hands. When a player is “tagged”, he has to chase the other players.
Isn’t that How God does us? The Bible says in 1 John 4:19”We love because he FIRST loved us.” You can shout now! How long has God been chasing you? Think about all the times he has chased when you were in places you know you had no business being in. Think about how he chased you out of a harmful relationship. Think about how long He has been chasing you to surrender to His will for your life. Think about it.
Have you been ducking, dodging, and hiding from the very One who gave you life? The very One who has covered you with endless grace and mercy. Who loves you more than you could ever love yourself. Stop running. God is saying “Tag! You’re IT! Now it is time to chase ME!
