Is it True?

Did you know 20 million billion bits of information move around your brain every second? This fact is mind blowing to say the least. Rarely are we completely in the present because there is always something on our minds whether it’s completing a to-do list, worrying about finances or family, or an event to prepare for. Planning is essential to executing your ideas and goals. However, being so consumed with the future that you neglect the here and now can lead to ungratefulness and anxiousness.

I’m reminded of Philippians 4:8 that says “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”

Because I am a lover of words and their meanings, I took a few minutes to look up “True”. True is being in accordance with the actual state or conditions.  You knew that. But think about this… If we live by Phil. 4:8 – Whatever is true – We are constantly dwelling on our actual state or conditions. So, the future isn’t true because we are not there yet. We have not experienced what we are experiencing now.

So the next time you’re thinking 5 years ahead, remember to think about where you are in that moment in complete gratitude.
