I’ve been reading a lot of articles lately about wealth and what it takes to become a millionaire. Coming from a small town where many middle class families reside some even under the poverty line($37,000 and below in Mississippi), money tends to always lead to something bad, so it’s not the hottest topic.
Many become enslaved to thinking desiring wealth is a disgrace in God’s eyes. It concerns me that we as a culture pick and choose biblical principles we which to apply why negating others. For instance, He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly. (Proverbs 13:24 NKJV) is one I can quote and a witness to from experience. Although I rarely hear, A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children(Proverbs 13:22 NKJV). This verse says if a parent doesn’t leave an inheritance for his son, he is worst than a non-believer.
The love of money is the root all of evil when it is prioritized over a faithful & obedient life to God Almighty. But there’s nothing wrong with wanting a lifestyle of freedom and options that wealth provides.
